Wessex H&R has contributed significantly to the south of England's architectural and historical preservation for more than 40 years. The process of conserving a structure to maintain it in good condition while preventing damage or destruction is defined as building preservation. A good building preservation service is broad and covers not just the core services we have been providing, such as pest control, damp proofing, waterproofing and timber treatment, but also a variety of additional substantial and relevant repairs that are done in-house.
Here at Wessex H&R we have a passion for timber, it is one of the oldest and most widely used materials in construction and its use historically and within important buildings, means that we take pride and care in preserving pieces of the past. In this instance we have been surveying, repairing, preserving and treating timber as far back as 1984, to which we are graced to have been able to work in some of the most culturally and historically rich buildings, not only in Hampshire but in England. Timber is a very resilient building material which is backed up the fact, it remains tough and strong in some the oldest buildings in the world.. Upon undertaking our first remedial damp proofing contracts in the early 1980's we have closely followed industry guidelines and kept a strict standard for damp proofing and surveying dampness in buildings. By appreciating both the building and the clients needs, whatever the issues with damp we can offer the best course of action to take whether it be external repairs, internal remedial action or on-going maintenance. We are registered and accredited contractors. All our damp proofing works come with our long-term guarantee and optional GPI guarantee.
Following strict industry guidelines and working in accordance with BS:8102:(2009), gives us the competence and ability to carry out all below ground waterproofing works. Falling on our extensive history of successful contracts we are the reputable company to choose for your project below ground. Correctly installed by approved contractors, the installations of a cavity drain membrane system with sumps and pumps complete with ongoing routine maintenance of drainage channels and the pumps can make these systems last the lifetime of the property. We were contracted for remedial treatment by traditional builders RJSmith & Co after conducting a survey and producing a report, as there was heavy salt contamination in the proposed kitchen from the 300+year old fireplace, among other small indiscretions like higher outside ground levels, that would benefit from remedial treatment.
We work closely with many local parish churches and were requested by Kimpton parish council to survey the pews and chairs for infestation of wood-boring insect and provide any necessary remedial treatment.
After being given the go ahead Wessex H&R preservation specialists provided waterproofing and installation.
Our technicians carried out implementing fire retardant treatment over the course of one day, ensuring a thorough and even application rate, to make sure that the timber is fully impregnated.
